Going strong for over 60 years
Established in 1956, Wesley Netball Club Inc. is proud of its long tradition of success and good sportsmanship. As a club, we aim to provide a safe and fun environment to play netball while encouraging teamwork, friendship and a sense of achievement. We compete in the South Australian United Church Netball Association (SAUCNA) competition, with competitors ranging from age seven years to Open age. We are also a club proud to be run entirely by volunteers and we welcome anyone willing or wanting to get involved. Otherwise we hope to see you out on the sidelines, supporting our teams, rain, hail or shine!
The Competition
As a club, we compete in the South Australian United Church Netball Association (SAUCNA) competition, running from April until August, with competitors ranging from age seven years to Open age. We field teams in U8, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17 and Open age.
We are also excited to welcome boys as well up until the age of 12. We accept players of all abilities and endeavour to field balanced and competitive teams in each age group, holding yearly team grading sessions to assist this. Team selection is made by experienced club coaches and two members of Committee based on age, court position and ability.
Training throughout the winter season is compulsory. U8’s-U15’s train on Thursdays and U17s-Open age teams train on Monday with times and venues TBA upon completion of team selection.
Some of our teams also compete independently in SAUCNA’s summer competition.

Matches
Matches are played on Saturday afternoons.

U8’s-U15’s rotate between a home and away schedule at the varying times of 12pm, 1:30pm or 3pm. Home matches are played at Hazelmere Road Reserve, Glengowrie with away venues depending on the opposition.

U17’s-Open age teams play at the SAUCNA courts between Anzac Highway and Greenhill Road at the varying times of 12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm or 4:30pm.

How can I get involved in the club?
Being involved as a volunteer can be a rewarding experience and we cannot operate without them. Being involved offers the chance to form new friendships with other parents and players and be more involved in your child’s interests. We welcome anyone who is willing to assist. Roles and opportunities include:
Coaches
Coaching positions are usually filled from within our netball community, often a parent or relative. Coaches run the compulsory weekly training session for their team. Some of our Coaches continue in this role for many years, offering quality coaching to our teams but we welcome anyone who is willing to give coaching a go.
The main attribute needed for coaching is enthusiasm. Coaches also require:
- a current Working With Children Check
- a Police Check
- a completed 'Head to Toe' first aid training
Umpires
We need two umpires for every home match during the season. We are always interested in training and mentoring new umpires (minimum age 14) and welcoming accredited umpires to our roster. Umpires are paid according to their level of accreditation and the grade they umpire.
Umpires require a solid understanding of the rules, the ability to apply the rules with a calm demeanour, a confident and loud voice, white clothing and a whistle.
Umpiring at training is a great way to learn and get confidence. The Association also runs ongoing training/certification courses throughout the season. We also encourage our umpires to complete a 'Head to Toe' first aid training.
For any enquiries regarding Umpiring, please contact our Umpire Co-ordinator
Team Managers
Team Managers assist the Coach in various ways by creating team rosters, managing team equipment, communicating with their players, organising scorecards etc. They are also encouraged to complete a 'Head to Toe' first aid training.
Committee Members
New Committee members are always welcome and with the club continuing to grow there is always new roles to fill.
